How to Play

MERCS is a top-down run-and-gun shooter where you control one of three elite mercenaries battling through six stages of intense combat. Your primary objective is to survive each level by eliminating all enemy soldiers, vehicles, and bosses while rescuing hostages for extra points and power-ups. You move with an 8-way joystick and have separate buttons for shooting and throwing grenades, with the ability to pick up weapon upgrades like spread shots, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers that significantly increase your firepower. Early in each run, focus on collecting weapon power-ups and memorizing enemy spawn patterns while avoiding taking damage to preserve your limited lives. The middle sections require careful positioning to handle larger enemy waves and armored vehicles, using grenades strategically to clear crowded areas. During tense moments against bosses or in narrow corridors, maintain constant movement to avoid enemy fire while targeting weak points.
