In Tales of Destiny, you control a party of characters in an active real-time battle system. Your primary objective is to explore the world, complete quests, and defeat enemies to progress the story. During exploration, you move your character on a field map and can interact with townspeople, find items, and enter dungeons. When you encounter enemies, the game shifts to a side-scrolling battle screen where you directly control one character.
