Shantae is a 2D action-platformer where players control the half-genie Shantae as she defends her hometown from the evil pirate Risky Boots.

In Shantae, your goal is to guide the half-genie heroine through vibrant, side-scrolling stages, defeating enemies and overcoming platforming challenges. You move Shantae with the D-pad, using the A button to jump and the B button to attack with her signature hair whip. As you explore, you'll find new magical transformations, like a monkey for climbing walls or an elephant for breaking obstacles, which are essential for accessing hidden areas and progressing. The game features interconnected towns and dungeons, requiring you to backtrack with new abilities to unlock previously unreachable paths.
