In Shining Force III, you command a group of characters in tactical, turn-based battles on a grid. Your core objective is to defeat all enemy units or achieve specific map goals, like protecting an ally or seizing a point. During exploration phases, you navigate towns to talk to NPCs, purchase equipment, and uncover story clues. Before each battle, you can equip your force and position your units. In combat, each unit has a movement range and can attack, use items, or cast spells. Positioning is critical, as attacking from the side or rear increases damage, and terrain affects defense. A useful beginner strategy is to keep your units grouped to support each other and focus on eliminating enemy spellcasters and archers first, as they can attack from a distance. Pay attention to unit promotion when they reach level 10, which significantly boosts their stats. The challenge rhythm involves managing your resources between battles and adapting to enemy formations. In the early game, focus on leveling all your characters evenly. During tense moments, use healing items and spells strategically to keep your key units alive.
