Sonic Blast is a 2D side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Game Gear featuring Sonic and Knuckles as playable characters. It is notable for its pre-rendered 3D-style graphics and is the last Sonic game released for the Game Gear.

Your objective is to guide Sonic or Knuckles through various zones, defeating enemies and collecting rings to reach the goal. As you run and jump through levels, you must avoid spikes, bottomless pits, and enemies like Crabmeats and Buzz Bombers. Collecting 100 rings grants an extra life, and hitting monitors can provide power-ups like a shield or temporary invincibility. The core challenge is navigating the platform-heavy stages while maintaining your ring count, as getting hit without any rings will cost you a life. In the early stages, focus on learning the layout and building a ring buffer. Later, the levels become more complex with moving platforms and precise jumps. Boss battles occur at the end of each zone, requiring you to identify attack patterns and strike when the boss is vulnerable. The final goal is to defeat Dr. Robotnik and save the day.
